Skills!

In our Family Home Evenings each Monday we include a segment called "Skills". This is where the kids can show off something new they've learned that week. I thought I'd share what Camryn and Avery's skills were this week:

Avery has been working on her fine motor skills and recently started practicing writing letters of the alphabet. She's doing great and this morning she brought me her very first completed word, with no help from me! The word is HAVE, in case you can't make it out. She was actually trying to write Avery but either couldn't figure out the R or got to the end of the paper. I still count it as a successful word!

She's also been drawing lots of faces. I've been trying to give her tips. This one she did all on her own and I thought it was an awesome picture. Nice 'stache!

Camryn's skill this week was Twirling. She loves to spin around and around and doesn't get too dizzy, surprisingly. We have a few bedtime songs we've adapted to include twirling ("If you're happy and you know it, dance in circles!", that kind of thing). Here's a short clip of her twirling (and Avery trying to get in on the action). Enjoy!

What a great idea to include in FHE!

Haha - what a fun idea for your FHE.
Twirling is really a great skill. When I was about 3 years old, I would twirl in circles for hours, and never get dizzy. I have since lost that skill, unfortunately.

That is a great idea! I thin we may incorporate it (it would be more varied than our current "talent" portion which usually involves some mad dancing from Jack).

I love this idea! What a fun, quick way to liven up FHE.

I love the twirling...it reminds me of you've got mail.

PS- Ashley, it reminded me of You've Got Mail, too. We must be sisters.
