Playtime

Camryn is so cute when she plays with her toys. Little cute dialogues and everything. Today I captured it on video. Disclaimer: This is 2 1/2 minutes long, there are some pauses, and it's not too riveting. But I love it.

I know 2 year old talk is hard to understand sometimes (unless you're the mom), so here is what she's saying/doing basically:

(putting her Little People to sleep)
Sweet dreams… everyone.
(gives them all kisses)
They’re sleeping. All sleeping.
(looks an icon on the computer)
Books! There it is!
Buh bye mommy I check em
(back to her Little People)
Good morning guys! Wake up!
(Setting them all back up)
Mumbles…
Here’s the bus
Whoa
(lifts the bus)
Bus over there. Working. My seat. Open it. There you go. Up the steps. I do it.
mumble…
(Picture frame falls down)
Oh no. Something away.
Oh my! A picture fell away!
Ok, the picture?
(smiles and runs back)
Oh my.

I Love Spring

I love that spring came earlier this year!

Men's dress shirt dress

Here's the dress I made from a men's dress shirt. I think it turned out really great, except it is a little see-through. She'll have to wear a slip underneath. I used this tutorial. Here's the back:

Cam's Haircut

I took Camryn to Kid-do's to get her hair trimmed. I actually trimmed the back once but I thought a pro might do a better job with this little wiggler. And they only charged me the bang price so it wasn't a bad deal.

Doesn't she look so cute in her sparkly pink drape? She got to sit in this cute pink car and watch Toy Story 2 - her #1 favorite show that just happened to be playing on their TVs when we walked in. Nice!

It didn't look a ton shorter than before but just a little more polished and the stylist gave her a cute little braid on top. What a fun place.

At Last... The Repurposing Post

You may recall in January this shirt I made for Avery out of one of my old shirts. Well our Relief Society Meeting last night was a Savvy Shoppers Trade Show and I was asked to set up a booth showing some ideas on how to repurpose clothes. I got busy and made a few things out of my old clothes so here are the much anticipated results.

The first thing I made was a dress for Avery:

The top was an old shirt of hers that had a hole in the tummy. I just cut it to an empire waist and added some of the fabric from this old skirt of mine that was too big on me:

I used this tutorial as my guide. I thought it turned out great. And she loves wearing it because I made it just for her! Next to go was this old shirt of Merrick's. It's a soft knit fabric that doesn't fray but he never wore it so I tried to get some use out of it.

The result:

A cute ruffly shirt. I used this tutorial for the neckline. It was really fun to make and everyone last night was impressed that it came from that big frumpy shirt of Merrick's! Who knew! I used the original hems on the sleeves and the bottom and the top neckline didn't need to be finished because the ruffles covered it up. So cute.

The last thing I have made so far was a super cute dress out of one of Merrick's dress shirts.

I used this tutorial and I must admit, this was the most complicated project I've done because you have to thread 5 pieces of elastic through 5 casings you make but it turned out really adorable. Here's the back:

The last project I'm working on still is this dress, also made from a men's dress shirt. I'll post pics when I'm done with that.

So maybe you can try this too! Go through your closet (or your husband's!) and see if there are things you don't wear but are still in good shape and then go online to get some cool ideas. It's fun, it's free, it's easier than sewing from scratch, and if it doesn't work out, you were just going to get rid of it anyway right?

Happy Easter, everyone. We hope you had a wonderful day. We've been enjoying General Conference weekend and had a nice relaxing morning listening to Conference. In between sessions we did a big Easter Egg Hunt for the girls in our big backyard. They had a lot of fun gathering eggs. I hope you enjoy seeing some pictures of my cute girls!
