Sisterly Love

Avery loves her little sister. She loves to "hold her" and whenever Camryn cries she says "Oh no, baby sad!" She will often bring me the baby's binky if she's crying and she loves to help me with diaper changes. She even puts the messy diapers in the trash all by herself! :) The only thing she's competitive with is the Boppy pillow, actually. She likes to lay in it and gets jealous when I use it or when Camryn is sitting in it. Kind of silly.
Well we love our little girls and are glad that Avery is doing so well adjusting to having a baby around the house.

5 days old

Well Camryn is 5 days old now and is doing well. We went to the doctor today and she wasn't looking yellow at all so she didn't have to do a bilirubin test, hooray. She's looking really good and eating pretty well so that's good. I'm feeling really well too. I think the recovery time this time is much quicker which is nice since I've got a toddler too. Merrick goes back to work Wednesday but his mom is coming Wed-Sun so that will be nice. Especially for Avery who needs more attention. Oh yeah and Avery's been sick all weekend and we found out today she's got her first ever ear infection. Good timing huh?
Well here's a picture of Camy at the hospital I think 1 day old.
Here she is in her first outfit when she was ready to go home from the hospital on Friday.

I sure think she's a cutie!

Camryn Olivia Smith

She's here! Camryn Olivia Smith arrived today at 1:19pm CST. She is 8 lb 12 oz and 21 inches long. Mommy and baby are doing great. Vanessa got induced this morning with the pitocin starting at 7am and only had 6 hours of labor. The baby came out really quick and easy too!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Well I hope you all have a nice day full of luck and green stuff. As for me, I'm not feeling so lucky because today is my due date... with no baby yet. I guess I could still have the baby today but I don't really feel like I'm about to so who knows. My mom gets here tomorrow so maybe I'm just holding out for that!

I bought this outfit a month ago in hopes that the baby would be able to wear it today. But alas, I'm taking it back to Target this morning because even in the off chance I have the baby today I'm sure she won't wear it. And it definitely won't fit her next her on her real first St. Patrick's Day.

Let's just hope the baby's first Easter will be in 2008 and not 2009!! (Because I really need to have this baby before Sunday!)

Precious Moments

So the other day Avery didn't take a nap until like 3:30pm for some reason. When Merrick got home at 5:30 she woke up but then fell back asleep on his chest while he and I were chatting. Merrick loves to cuddle and sleep with her.

Maybe it's because Avery has been such a difficult sleeper but this is probably how everyone feels, but I just love it when Avery is sleeping. She looks so peaceful and sweet. Like a little angel!

This is a different day (yesterday) when Avery conked out in her crib in a kind of funny position I thought. So I snapped a shot without waking her up (thank goodness). Oops I think there is a hole in her pants hehe.

Oh by the way, for those of you who are anxiously checking our blog every day hoping there will be pictures of a new baby girl on here... don't get too anxious. I'm due on Monday but I don't anticipate coming early. My doctor's appointment on Monday was less than encouraging when we saw how I'm progressing. But I'm optimistic that the baby will come sometime next week while my mom is here!

"Oh Messy!"

So last night I went to Enrichment and left Avery with Merrick. Since we were served dinner at Enrichment, Merrick and Avery were left to eat corn dogs and french fries. Merrick gave Avery her own corn dog, which she loves particularly because she loves ketchup. We call the ketchup "dippers" and so does she. Well Merrick was sitting on a chair in the living room watching some sci-fi tv show and Avery was sitting next to him in her high chair enjoying her "dippers" and apparently Merrick got really engrossed in the show. When it was over he turned to Avery and said "That was a good one, huh Avers..." only to find her looking like this:
She had finished almost the whole corn dog all by herself but had then proceeded to wipe all the extra ketchup (Merrick always gives her way too much) all over her face and up in her hair. He said it was dried and sticky and really funny. Needless to say, Daddy got to give her a bath.

I was quite proud that he remembered to take some good photos before he washed her off. As I was downloading these pictures onto my computer just now I showed them to Avery and she said, "Oh messy!" That about sums it up, I think.
